BANK OF HAYS IS BUILDING BETTER WAYS TO KEEP YOU SAFE AND ASSIST YOU DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME

How We are Responding to the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

We are living through unprecedented and challenging times.  In times of crisis, it is more important than ever for people to know they can count on us.  While COVID-19 has caused us to maintain our social distance, taking care of our customers and team members remains our top priority.  The lobby in each of our facilities remains temporarily closed, and we encourage you to utilize Online Banking and Mobile Banking to complete the majority of your transactions.  If that is impractical, or if you need access to your safe deposit box, we are assisting our customers by appointment or through the drive-up.  We anxiously await the day we can reopen our front doors and once again shake your hand!

Things are changing sometimes hourly, and we are working quickly to respond to the needs of our employees, customers and communities.  Bank of Hays has been and continues to be diligent in monitoring the COVID-19 impact as well as the challenges we are all facing.  First and foremost, let us assure you that your money is safe with us.  The FDIC has been given the authority to implement an account guaranty program similar to 2008, and we are waiting to hear the final ruling on that.  Keeping large sums of cash in your home is not advisable because it puts these funds at risk of theft, fire, flood, loss, or damage.  Also, physical interaction and exchange of currency has the potential of harboring germs and bacteria.

Although it is necessary to contain the spread of this pandemic by temporarily closing schools, businesses and postponing or canceling events, many are experiencing loss of income because of the impacts of doing so.  If you are experiencing financial hardship due to the impact of the coronavirus, we are here to help and willing to work with you, our valued customers, during this difficult time.  “Skip-a-Payment” plans (payment deferrals) are available for our consumer and real estate customers.  Last week Congress passed the CARES Act and it was signed into law.  This Act provides relief loans to small business customers. Payment deferrals are also available.  Please contact us to discuss and find a solution for you.

Unfortunately, fraudsters may take advantage of these types of vulnerabilities.  We encourage you to be on the lookout for suspicious email and/or text messages that try to convince you to share sensitive information such as username and password, or others that ask you to provide social security numbers, bank account numbers, and other valuable personal information.  Be cautious about online solicitations or ones that may impersonate a company charity, or government agency.  Bank of Hays will never ask you for your personal information or log-in information in this form of communication.

This is a very difficult time, but we are here for you.  We do not have all the answers but will continue to work hard to do the right thing for our employees, our customers and the communities we serve.  Thank you for the trust you place in us.
